Tracking pixel

A “tracking code” or “monitoring code” is precisely a small portion of code issued by some systems in order to be implemented in others to track certain data relating to the user and their browsing session or email opening session, in a way that is completely transparent to the user. The data tracked may vary widely, such as date and time, geographic location, the type of device used for browsing, and, in more complex tracking pixels, even the amount spent on a purchase order and other information useful to the marketing departments of the companies that use them.
