What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that the websites visited by users send to their devices, where they are stored and then retransmitted to the same websites on the next visit. Cookies are used for different purposes, have different characteristics, and may be used by the owner of the website you are visiting or by third parties. For more information about cookies, please visit https://www.allaboutcookies.org.
Below you will find all the information on the cookies installed through this website and the information needed to manage your preferences in this regard.
Applicable law provides that we may store cookies on your device if they are strictly necessary for the operation of this website. To install all other types of cookies and process the personal data collected through them, we need your consent. Please note that, if provided, your consent applies to the following domain:
Examples of similar technologies
Users’ online browsing may also be tracked through technologies similar to cookies. Below are some examples.
Localstorage
This is a technology used to optimise browsing, which does not collect data on the preferences expressed by the user (e.g. it stores a code identifying the user’s session after login, so that the user does not have to enter username and password on every profile page when accessing restricted areas).
Tracking pixel
A “tracking code” or “monitoring code” is precisely a small portion of code issued by some systems in order to be implemented in others to track certain data relating to the user and their browsing session or email opening session, in a way that is completely transparent to the user. The data tracked may vary widely, such as date and time, geographic location, the type of device used for browsing, and, in more complex tracking pixels, even the amount spent on a purchase order and other information useful to the marketing departments of the companies that use them.
Plugin
This is a program that interacts with another program in order to enhance or extend its original functions. The most commonly used plugins are those of social networks, which allow, for example, the user to follow a page or social profile with one click, indicate with one click that they liked web content, and share it on their social network profile, etc.
Widget
This is a graphical user interface component of a program designed to facilitate the user’s interaction with the program itself. The most commonly used widgets are those of social networks, which allow users to open social networks conveniently in a separate browser window.
These services make it possible to interact with social networks, or with other external platforms, directly from the pages of a website. The interactions and any information acquired by the website are subject to the privacy settings of the third party that created the above-mentioned technologies. To receive detailed information pursuant to art. 13 of the Personal Data Protection Law regarding the use of personal data processed when you use these technologies, we invite you to visit the websites of the third parties managing those technologies.
What are social plugins and how are they used
The social plugins listed below may be used:
- Facebook; Facebook Inc. (1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA)
- Twitter; Twitter Inc. (795 Folsom St., Suite 600, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA)
- LinkedIn; LinkedIn Ireland Unlimited Company (Wilton Place, Dublin 2, Ireland)
- YouTube, YouTube LLC (901 Cherry Ave., San Bruno, CA 94066, USA)
Social plugins are used to further personalise web pages. They are marked with the logo of the respective provider. On web pages, the plugins are deactivated by default and therefore do not transmit data to social networks. When the plugins are activated, the browser establishes a direct connection with the servers of the respective social network as soon as you access our website. The content of the plugin is transmitted by the social network directly to your browser and from there integrated into the website.
Through the integration of plugins, the respective provider receives the information that your browser has accessed the corresponding page of our website, even if you do not have an account with that social network or are not logged in at that moment. This information (including your IP address) is transmitted by your browser directly to a server of the provider (mostly in the United States) and stored there. We therefore have no influence over the extent of the data collected by the provider via the plugin.
If you are logged in to the social network, it may directly associate your visit to our website with your user account. If you interact with the plugins, the corresponding information is also transmitted directly to a server of the provider and stored there. In addition, the information may be published on the social network and, depending on the case, may also be displayed to other users.
The provider of the social network may use such information for advertising purposes, market research, and to configure its offer in a manner tailored to users’ needs. For this purpose, usage, interest and relationship profiles may be created, for example to analyse your use of our website in view of the advertisements that will be shown to you on the social network, to inform other users of your activities on our website, and to provide other services related to the use of the social network.
To learn about the purposes and scope of data collection and the further processing and use of data by social network providers, as well as your rights in this regard and the settings available to protect your privacy, please consult the data protection notices of the respective provider directly.
If you do not want the social network provider to associate the data collected through our website with your user account, you must log out of the social network before activating the plugins.
For the data processing activities described, the legal basis is legitimate interest.
